The Project...

My name is Taylor. I am an adult survivor of child abuse. I founded The Blue Ribbon Project for several reasons and had several goals in mind. First and foremost was to directly assist children within our community who are victims of abuse, neglect, and child sex assault. These children need us to be their voice and to stand up for their safety. It is our obligation to do so. The Blue Ribbon Project achieves this through several outreach programs that work directly with victims of abuse, as well as work with children who are placed within the Foster Care system.

Another goal of The Blue Ribbon Project is to elevate awareness of child abuse and the prevention of abuse and neglect. While there are many resources available and awareness has grown over the last several years, there are a reported 676,569 victims of child abuse and neglect (2011 Child Maltreatment Report, U.S Department of Health and Human Services). This number is staggering...and unacceptable.

Lastly, The Blue Ribbon Project is designed to bring resources together for foster care survivors. There are a lot of resources and information available on the internet regarding adoption and foster care, however, I feel as if I am part of a lost generation that grew up in the system. I wanted to provide a meeting place of sorts to those that may have grown up in similar circumstances and also feel as if they are part of a lost generation.

The Blue Ribbon Project is a collaboration of survivors, victims, and professionals from various fields. It is this community approach of helping and guiding each other to overcome the obstacles presented to us. While we are all in different parts of our journey, we have something to offer each other in support.  The Blue Ribbon Project is developed by you, supported by you, and guided by you. It is YOU who can make a difference in someone's life. The Blue Ribbon Project has grown to become a 501(c)(3) non-profit with programs in Anne Arundel County, Baltimore County, Calvert County, Charles County, Kent County, and Queen Anne's County.
